Artist’s Statement
In 1990, I began to take photography seriously. I joined a photography club in order to learn from those already practicing the art. Classes came next. Those included techniques, darkroom, and field work. I concentrated on landscapes. I traveled many places photographing what I saw. This was interesting, and expanded my knowledge of photography.
Then one day in 2007, I was working on the photo of a flower. While in Photoshop, I began to wonder just what all was available to me. Then came experimentation. I tried many of the options available, and was amazed by what was created. Then I began, in earnest, to experiment with flowers. They were a natural for the work I was creating.
I had discovered something that gave me a sense of satisfaction that I had not found before. Each time I start out I never know what the end result may be. I work until the image makes me happy. Then I stop. Each image is unique, because I never write down the steps I take to complete the image. Therefore, each one is one of a kind.
